In a secret deal with the first American dictator, China’s forces occupying the US West Coast abduct the leader of the national freedom fighters. During the operation, they wipe out his Israeli protective detail, capturing detail commander Kate Hartmann alive.
Rebel commando leader Jude Winthrop launches a rescue mission that takes him and his special operators from the Colorado Rockies, where the bloody abduction occurred, to California’s Naval Base Coronado. Bold incursions through Arizona and New Mexico tribal lands lead the rescue team to the occupied naval base, where the elite PLA forces have imprisoned their president.
The rescue operation becomes personally meaningful to Jude when he finds out the enemy is also holding Kate, with whom his relationship had deteriorated the last time they worked together.
Sensing his hold over the nation weakening, the dictator strikes back by violently killing a freedom fighter whose death hits Jude deeply.
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2015 Dan Santos has another "page turner" on his hands. Insurrection: Mile-High Blood is an exceptional read and brings back memories to me as military combat veteran. His prose concerning equipment, tactics and the day to day repartee between warriors is spot on. I can't wait to read the third in the series.
Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2015 Verified Purchase Dan Santos continues his thrilling and imaginative story of American defeat and resurgence in a gripping tale of betrayal and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. His own personal military background brings total credibility to his characters’ military exploits as rebel American patriots fight the American dictatorship that has taken over Washington and the Chinese invaders who control the West coast of the U.S. A can’t miss edge of your seat thriller. Can’t wait for the movie!
Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2022 Verified Purchase Not only enjoyed meeting and talking to the author but thoroughly enjoyed his first novel which we discussed. I liked the style and story so much that I downloaded the second book in the series. I plan to purchase the third one later. Dan mentioned he may write a fourth installment. Looking forward to it. Since we own a sweet little poodle, I may also read his wonderful dog book.
